The Scrapbook Artist is owned and operated by Doreen M. Helm in South Central Pennsylvania.  I am a proud mother of four small children and am passionate about preserving memories. Although an accounting consultant by trade, I have been an avid scrapbooker for over twenty years!  This has afforded me the luxury to create different kinds of albums and directly experience the changes in the scrapbooking industry.
I began scrapbooking as a child, making sure I took a ton of photographs on my mom’s 1950’s Girl Scout camera, saving memorabilia and then documenting the events in my less-than-perfect handwriting.  Even as a youngster, it was important to me to record the events of my life;  not only the birthdays, holidays and vacations, but also the tender moments of daily life that now I am so thankful I have today. 

Through my teen and college years, my scrapbooking became more memorabilia intensive.  I saved ticket subs, programs, report cards, acceptance letters, essays, anything that would allow me to be in that same space and time when re-reading years later.  I also began journaling beyond the basic people, places and dates I had already mastered.  By recording stories and interesting happenings, I have a fairly good record of those years!

When I was first married, I made albums about our engagement and wedding. This was about the same time in the industry where special “tools” and stickers were introduced to the mass market, although Creative Memories Consultants were already in full swing.  In the mid to late 1990’s the industry changed from a craft focus to an industry seriously devoted to the preservation of memories in an archivaly safe manner, and the industry literally exploded.  Now more than ever, professional scrapbook artists and crafters alike have tools and supplies at their fingertips to produce archivally safe memories that will be preserved for 200+ years! 

There is no reason why we all cannot make moments into memories for future generations.  The lives we lead are unique, precious and should never be forgotten, lost or destroyed through time.  Scrapbooks are a celebration of who we are and what we value.  I encourage you to give the special gift of memories to your loved ones!
